Didn't a few players return from injury at that time? Didn't that allow him to have more confidence in his back four? I think Mancini came with an agenda that was hampered by early injuries - Boateng, Kolarov in particular

The whole points total wasn't better than that of Hughes is/was a complete red herring IMO. Hughes got off to a great start last season but then the team started to fall away badly. I believe he went because if anything we looked like we were going backwards. I don't think Mancini was anywhere near the sack earlier this season because whilst at certain times his points total was comparable to that of Hughes, we have generally looked like we are progressing.
