The kids are alright, NYRB2 City1
July 25th, 2010There was plenty of talent on display, and although the score went against us, it was a stiff test for Alex Nimely, Ben Mee, Andy Tutte, Scott Kay, Cunningham, Boyata &c. Onouha at right back did okay. The excellent Adam Johnson came on late to show New York how a winger operates. How he managed to be overlooked for South Africa we can't understand here at mancityblues, God and Capello only know.
Jo scored (AGAIN!!), a sweet flick at close range well taken, he did have a go at them throughout the game and perhaps should have scored more. Alex Nimely gave a good account of himself and Adebayor certainly should have scored but was keen and lively, definitely more so than he was towards the end of last season; perhaps he's finally got his head in gear or perhaps he was trying to impress Juve. Let's hope not. We think he will be important for us this season. His attitude will change and he will score.
Perhaps the boss should have left the young back four alone, the more familiar figures of Lescott and Toure were given the last twenty minutes and let Bulls score another. Pretty typical pre-season game, the American commentators can be forgiven for thinking Joe Hart played for ninety minutes when he was subbed at half time by Taylor, but our main impression is that the kids are alright.
