Finishing fourth in the league, can we do it?
It's all happening as usual at the home of Manchester City, We really are the Myrmidons of melodrama*. If we fell off a bouncy castle, we'd land on the tentpegs. No Goalkeeper but a very willing young Faroe Islander (No disrespect, Gunnar Neilsen looked good against Arsenal, at least he can kick straight and move off his line to catch the odd cross) or a third choice keeper from Sunderland who let in seven last time he played. Add to this the rumour that at least two senior players are unhappy with the manager's methods of double training sessions and a daily kick in the bollocks to keep them on their toes.
Would we want it any other way? If all was going smoothly would we know what to do with ourselves? We wouldn't know whether to have a shit or a haircut.
The question is, do you think we can do it or not? There is a poll and all are welcome to vote on the forum at mancityblues.com
I think it is plain daft to believe that at this stage of the season, with all that is at stake, professional footballers would want to upset the apple cart. This is the time when all they have worked for this season is in the balance, this is, above any other, the time when they know they need to be focussed on the job in hand; only three games left, the first two of which are home games, these are the games in which reputations are born and cemented. Never mind how good they may be, they are afraid of how good we are.
I not only think we can do it, I also think that Mancini knows we can do it. People have said why should players who know they may well be moved on in the summer knock themselves out now? Because their reputations are at stake, and if nothing else, their pride in their work should count. Superbia in Proelia indeed.
