How do you solve a problem like Robinho?
January 19th, 2010This is an earlier post on here;
Robinho
I'm sticking my neck out here, because I love the little fellow anyway, but there has definitely been room for criticism of him for a while now. He hasn't put in a shift as they say, yet he is one of the best players I've ever seen at our club - a bit lightweight for the prem? Yes, but dazzling skills can overcome that, and I like to be dazzled, even when the moves don't come off.So the press start to speculate about him going in January. To be frank he's been going since he was signed according to some - and according to some others he is at the top of their selling list, get rid now, cash in.
It's understandable, but my impression of things is that Mancini won't be led by what he sees in two games, and January will be too soon to think of selling anyway.
Nothing's changed since, except that people are saying now "Get rid!" He is not interested, he runs away from tackles, he's too easily muscled out of games, get shut. Not just one or two people either, it seems the concensus that he is finished at City.

"Ooo he's a big 'un"
He came on at Everton as a substitute for the injured Santa Cruz, but before long he was substituted himself because he was ineffective, and as Mancini explained, he made a tactical decision to replace him with Shaun. Robinho was down the tunnel like a rat down a sewer.
So what is the problem? Dennis Teuart reckons he knows;
“I don’t think he has settled in well. Mancini will have seen what mental state he is in and will have seen his attitude and his approach to his training. All Saturday’s performance will have done is confirm in Mancini’s mind what the situation is with Robinho.”
I don't believe that Mancini will decide in a few games to dump one of the best players around. If he is having trouble playing in the premier league, then something drastic must have happened since his first few games is all I can say. I think Mancini is more likely to work with the lad than dismiss him out of hand, that niggling ankle injury coincided with a drop in form and he has struggled to regain it. Mancini is wise enough to bring Robinho back slowly and I think that's what will happen. I want to see that big grin on his face again, in our blue shirt. Don't bury him alive, give him some space, let him be part of the squad for a while, I'm sure that's all he needs. There are at least seventeen games left in the league, plenty of time for a resurgence. Then Mancini can decide if he's a luxury we can do without.
Oh, and as for Dennis Teuart - he would do well to keep his own counsel, it's a new City now, although he's a hero, his day is gone.
