Dunnies bin a brick wall for us, yea he scores a few own goals but thats because he gets on the end of everything. Hughes just needs at least the summer to bring in some more players we need a big centre forward without doubt but we're not that far away with this squad. And as for bringing the ticket prices down to improve our form, would you say our home form was particularly bad?!

Do you honestly think that players of the quality of Villa and Fabregas are likely to join the club this summer? It seems highly unlikely to me. Far less ambitious signings are probable and then let's see if the team can develop over the next few years. It won't be possible to buy 'instant' success.

I look forward to seeing you saying what a great manager he is next season.

Fair assessment I felt. Agree with most of what you said there.

Seems to me you are saying we need to buy almost two complete new teams this summer, a new manager, new back room team and get rid of Cook reduce the prices further. You don't want much in the next three months do you.

We can keep Dunne as back up, Kompany should be moved as a center back he just cant play any sort of attackin football. Sad but true about Zabaleta, i mean i love the spirit but squad player is what he is best at. Same goes with Ireland, great developement but he needs to do it again and maybe once more after that befor he is world class. Elano has to go, he is just goin to drag us down with his opinnions and ideas how good he is. valencia would be perfect to that right hand side and wigan cant keep a hold of him bruce himself admited it. lescot would be good cause he can play in the centre and at left as well where bridge has been dodgy to say the least.
silva for left 20-25m should do it cause liverpool only wants to pay 15 for him and its a buyers market. tevez for what ever it costs and should be done as quick as possible cause that can bring others. zlatan would be perfect poacher, pair for tevez or robinho but he wants CL football. they are few to mention...

Does anybody remember when we were all excited about the ADUG? When supporters were outside the stadium singing 'We got Robinho'. What we need is to be patient and stop booing the manager and his tactics. Lets give him another year and see if we progress on what we have achieved this year (which is not a lot except for a quarter final of the UEFA Cup!)

I can think of at least 10 players at least that need to go and at the top of this list is Vassell Dunne and Richards. I am sorry to say this but have any of these players actually played with their hearts on their sleeves for the past two seasons? No, they have been fucking shocking.

See who he brings in over summer and judge him at the end of next year.

Oh yeah Danny Mills what a fucking joke embarrassed to share his surname

Stick with Hughes for another season. He inherited a relegation squad from SUPER SVEN..He can't change things around within one season. Even a Fergie or Mourinho wouldn't have done any better.

I was in favour of Hughes, but sadly have been proven wrong- 4-5-1 no matter whom the opponent, is not the stuff of a tactical genius. Hughes was the right man for the club we were - a skint sleeping giant. We are no longer asleep and have the financial backing to become a giant. Mark Hughes is the man for scrappers like Bolton and Blackburn.

You're right. This season has been a mess. I can't buy in to the "We inherited a load of dross from Sven" argument. We were in the top four until Xmas before last, and the team performances only nose-dived after Thaksin stopped paying them. Sven still managed to finish in a higher league position despite all the uncertainties he had to contend with.

You've also highlighted a major shortcoming of the coaching staff this season. We've had more injuries from training than from playing, and I suspect that the reluctance to unleash Petrov, the Boj, and SWP until they were fully recovered has been due to realisation on management's part that people were beginning to suss what was actually happening.

You are right on the marketing front as well. As it stands at the moment Garry Cook doesn't actually have a marketable product on his hands. So yes, fill the stadium, sell beer, pies and hotdogs, and make people sit up and take notice, until he does.

As for playing staff, we need two world class players for each position if we are to win the Champion's League (which, believe it or not, is what our owners will be looking for). So far, our sights have been set far too low. Even Tevez, whose name is being bandied around as a 'possible' signing, isn't up to the standard required. Villa, Kaka, Messi, Gerrard - these are the kind of players we should be talking about. Certainly not the injury-prone also-rans that our manager seems to have his radar tuned to.

So yes, let's be honest with ourselves. You're on the right lines with your article. We're all lying in the gutter, but some of us are gazing up at the stars...

I think Mark Hughes has got it wrong tactically. The Spurs game summed up the season, when we had one striker we looked impotent. As soon as the 2 strikers came on we looked as if we could score every trip down the field. We should have played 2 strikers away from home every game. Let's face it, we only won 2 away, could we have done worse?

What I get really pissed off about is when Micah finally does manage to control the ball enough to get down the right hand side to launch a cross, where are they. Caicedo is still trying to remember which way he's kicking, and wonders why he's by the half way line. Ireland has been sauntering up, looking for the one-two, Wright Philips is trying an overlap, but we are well past that, and the brazilian pair are nowhere.

No-one in the box. Even West Brom can do better than that.

When we were against 10 men needing a goal we pussy footed around, trying to get the perfect ball in past a 10 man brick wall. Where were the opportunistic runs, hopefully resulting in either a goal or a foul on the edge of the penalty area?

And how many times did we see the ball with Micah or Shaun down in the corner, tapped back and then back and then some more. From attack we were in defence.

Commitment - lacking from a great number of players. Elano has to go, so he wants a new contract, but I bet it comes with a clause saying he picks the team. Caicedo? who, a bit of passion would be nice.

Bridge a good signing, some umph, same goes for Bellamy, lots of umph.

Bridge is class, Bellamy a stop gap though.

Class - Lacking everywhere. Dunne was good when we were a scrapper, but despite your dogged service mate, it's time to move on. Richards, you were a better centre back, why do you insist on being a right back. Not sure the class is there, should have gone to Chelsea when the offer was there. De Jong, class?, a squad player.

Class, is Bridge, Robinho, SWP, Ireland, but thats it.

Toughen up - and the three that need to toughen up are Ireland, Robinho and SWP. I know they take knocks, but more umph aggression and forward running.

This season has been weak, a weak team with weak endevour and a total lack of umph, or go, or passion, whatever you want to call it.

Next season we need lots of class and a spirit returned to City. Class players with the spirit of 1999. Get Paul Dickov to come in to teach passion.

Go for them all, even Tevez (he doesn't really qualify as a rag) and Ronaldo. Sign Ronaldo and put him on the bench, just to piss of the rags and him. Putting him on the bench means he doesn't even get to play reserves, -result.

Come on lets use some of the cash for fun stuff. Lets bail out Southampton and use it as an acadamy club. Lets buy Old Trafford, shareholders need the cash, and promise to lease it back to them, but pull out at the last minute. No why Saints, lets buy Liverpool and use it as an acadamy club.

Honestly though, come on City, lets bring back the passion, the grunt, with some real class players. The Rags ain't that good, but even after all their success their players still exude passion for the club and the game. Same goes for all the other top four teams, class and passion.

This season we have had semi class and zero passion. Our team is Aston Villa/Everton class without the passion.

And that is down to the coach/manager. Hughes was supposed to be the great motivator. Well I haven't seen it. Bye Bye. Is it time for Kev to return, Maybe Stevie Coppell for 2 days, Jose might be tempted, Could Gordon Strachan come and instil some go.

Whats Big Mal doing these days?
