Hughes need to get the team and tell them how it is. Players nowadays see themselves as businesses. I thought that for a business to be of any value it had to perform well. Perhaps Hughes should explain this and to remind them of the basics of business.

Thank you for that, I enjoyed the read. I know Hughes is far from covering himself in glory at the moment with some of his tactical decisions but I do believe that most intelligent City supporters think he should be given some more time to get things under control. Obviously if we seriously look in danger of going down then things will change but until then I think we give him time to progress. Frankly who do the boo boys think we will get as a manager at this point anyway?

My thoughts exactly. Sit tight and give the man a proper chance. I for one wanted Sven to stay, but in hindsight I think things would be alot worse than they are now if he'd stayed. I'm sure I'm the 1,000th person to say it, but Taggart was close to the chop when he started in Stretford ...

Lets see how the team does with his signings for the rest of the season before we press the panic button.

A good post but I cannot agree with it fully.
Mark Hughes is not the right man for what should be a top job for these reasons:-
1. His past record is not that of a top manager. (Fergie did the impossible and won the Scotish League with Aberdeen, that's a record).
2. He is not greatly known or respected internationally. (ie like Jose M etc)so will struggle to attract the top, top players.
3. It would appear if correct that his/our transfer targets are modest. RSC, SP & CB would not be considerd by the top four EPL clubs, true or false? So why are they acceptable for us?
4. Some of our tactics have been way out and have cost us games, you do not need to be an expert to know this, we have all seen it.
5. The same mistakes are being made over again ie Brighton / Forest etc along with the same excuses.
6. About the current players:- Some lack motivation, some try hard, some do not, some have lost confidence, most are inconsistent and some look out of control ie MJ. These are all managerial issues.
Finally, I, like some of the rest of us, never thought I would see the chance for City to become a top club. I don't want to see that chance lost, we should not be taking any gambles with this chance by having a person of unproven ability (winning things) and medium standing in charge, but we are doing, aren't we. Leave Mark Hughes until the end of the season (unless relegation is on the cards and it could be) Then go for someone who is well known and respected globally and has WON PLENTY OF HONOURS because for the reasons above i cannot see Mark Hughes being that special one (and I am genuinely sorry to say). Cheers, John.

I don't disagree with any of your points John, all I want is for Hughes to prove us all wrong, and 'when the going gets tough' and all that, he may have the right stuff in him

The going has certainly got tough alright Clevblue and if Mark Hughes does pull this off he will have my utmost admiration, respect and sincere appologies for my doubt in him.
I would love him to succeed because that means City have also succeeded.
My view is not an impulsive reaction though Cleblue to a few bad results it is a balanced considerd opinion over a period of time. Cheers. John.
